Andy Warhol: Sex Parts

3 April - 11 July 2025

Lindon & Co. are pleased to present an exceptional and rare-to-market grouping of erotic works by Andy Warhol (1928 -1987), made on the eve of his 50th birthday.

Comprised of paintings from the Torso and Sex Parts series, Stitched Photographs and unique silver gelatin prints, the exhibition re-unites a ground-breaking selectionof works from the lauded ‘Andy Warhol: Velvet Rage and Beauty” exhibition at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie with works never seen before on public view.

The exhibition assembles six paintings from the Torso series (1977), Warhol’s ode to the classical beauty of the male nude, as well as an unprecedented five paintings(out of nine) from the subsequent Sex Parts series (1978). The Sex Parts, never shown in Warhol’s lifetime, are widely considered to have been the vector for the artist’sultimate acceptance of his own sexuality. Together, these series are a celebration of queer life in New York before the dawn of the AIDS crisis, and are critical to holisticunderstanding of Warhol’s life and practice.

Also in 1977, Warhol began to take photos with a 35mm Minox camera. The resulting unique silver gelatin prints comprehensively illuminate the artist’s personal andartistic sphere. Warhol’s final and most obscure body of work, a series of Stitched Photographs, was created by sewing together these silver gelatin prints in serialpanels of four, six, or nine identical images. Nearly five-hundred stitched photo works were created in all, most of which are now in the permanent collections of global institutions.
